A Master of an uncommon instrument in Popular Music and Jazz Music, Markus Eermann is one of a kind flute player in the world. He has played with Aaron Parks (USA) and CvA Concert Big Band (NED), UMO Jazz Orchestra (FIN), Holger Marjamaa (USA/EST). He has played in festivals at "Pori Jazz" , "Jazzahead" , "Jazz in Gronau" , "Veneto Jazz" and "Jazzkaar". Markus started playing flute at the age of 7, First in classical music but soon discovered Jazz and Popular Music. He lived in Amsterdam for 4 years during which he finished his Bachelor`s degree Conservatorium Van Amsterdam and 3 years in Helsinki, Finland where he finished masters at Sibelius Academy. He learned Saxophone and EWI along the way but flute is still the closest to the heart.
Markus has worked together with Finnish and Swedish musicians from 2021 onwards, Recording with Olli Virtanen, Johannes Granroth, Kristina Bianca Rantala and Pop with Aapo-Matti Puhakka. In 2022, UMO Jazz Orchestra-s Ed Patryka contacted Markus to come and play on a concert consisting of fresh music from Finnish composers. That concert cemented Markus as a go-to flute player for experienced flute parts in Finland. Later that year Riku Niemi Orchestra contacted Markus to play on a tour with the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra in Finland.
New-generation saxophone players in Finland and Estonia have asked Markus to share knowledge on doubling with flute. Doubler himself but the other way around, Markus has shared the knowledge of jazz flute playing to many players and teaches private lessons to this day.
